Le Clubhouse

Moored at 43°44’15” North Latitude and 7°25’40” East Longitude, this ship-like high-tech building, anchored on the Quai Louis II, houses the Principality’s two historic yacht clubs, the Société Nautique, dedicated to rowing, and the Yacht Club, the meeting point for shipowners and all international yachting activities. Alongside Lord Norman Foster and Monegasque architect Alexandre Giraldi, Jacques Grange and Nelson Wilmotte contributed their talents to the interior and exterior design of the new building.

The Yacht Club de Monaco benefits from the prestigious signature of internationally renowned architect Lord Norman Foster. With over 200 projects to his credit, he has won 650 awards and prizes for excellence, including the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Gold Medal, the Gold Medal of the Académie Française d’Architecture and the 1999 Pritzker Prize, the highest distinction in the world of architecture.

An eco-responsible approach

The building’s design focused on aesthetic quality and sustainability, in line with the HQE approach. The passive design of the structure carefully balances shade and natural light, and the glass façades can be opened to allow natural ventilation.

Photovoltaic cells, low-energy LED lighting, high-performance energy, waste and water management systems, a hydro-cooling system that recycles harbor water, solar tubes and charging stations for electric vehicles are all integrated into the project.

Sustainability is considered throughout the building’s lifecycle, with locally sourced materials such as European oak decking, insulation panels and recycled aggregates, as well as the involvement of local businesses. The Chantier Vert project also minimized the impact of the work on local residents.

A commitment to the planet!

Eager to offer solutions to the environmental issues of our time, since January 1, 2018 Y.C.M. has been committed to ensuring that its electricity consumption is generated from renewable energy sources. This initiative echoes the various actions already implemented in the past, as evidenced by the ISO 14001 certification obtained in June 2016, a managerial approach that confers on the Y.C.M. the status of an eco-responsible company.

It is in this spirit that the Y.C.M. implements a sustainable policy, which aims to guarantee the needs of present generations while preserving those of future generations. Our commitment to the environment has determined the main objectives of our environmental management system. These include improving waste management, preventing and controlling pollution risks, preserving natural resources and implementing a sustainable purchasing policy.
