Youth Sailing

On Optimist, Bug, Topper, Laser and J/70, courses, training sessions and internships are run all year round by twelve state-qualified instructors and trainers, whose mission is to teach sailing, discover the sea and protect the maritime environment. Youngsters aged 6 and over can learn to sail on a Bug, then move on to a Topper, and finally join the competition teams, depending on their physical qualities and motivation.

L'Ecole de la mer... a school of life

In collaboration with the French Ministry of Education, the Section Sportive welcomes students from the 8th to the 12th grades throughout the year, in cycles of 6 to 10 weeks, between September and June, enabling older students to take the “Sailing” option at their baccalaureate in the Principality.

Nearly 80 classes, or more than 2,000 students, discover the sea and learn to sail, while at the same time learning essential educational values such as autonomy, the acquisition of physical skills, solidarity and humility in the face of the elements, as well as the importance of preserving the maritime environment.

To sail during school vacations

During all school vacations, the Y.C.M. Sports Section organizes sailing courses for children aged 6 to 15, from beginners to advanced levels, combining education and fun (in, under and on the water). The aim is to encourage the practice of sailing (on Bug and/or Topper) and the learning of marine vocabulary, in order to promote a better understanding of the nautical environment and the need to preserve the maritime environment.
